In this article, we briefly go over the 5 main reasons why your hearing aid sound quality may decrease:
- Filter blockage: Earwax buildup inside the receiver filter is the most common cause. Make sure to check your filter!
- Moisture: Moisture is the enemy of electronic components. Don’t forget to use drying containers or dehumidifiers.
- Receiver issues: If the receiver has been damaged by impact or its wire is faulty, replacing the filter won’t help and the receiver may need replacement.
- Earwax buildup in the dome: Sometimes earwax blocks the entire dome instead of the filter.
- Weak battery: Sometimes the hearing aid itself isn’t the problem — the battery simply isn’t provide enough voltage to the receiver.
